Fresenius Medical Care strengthens its ties within Asia

The world’s largest renal healthcare company, Fresenius Medical Care (FME) recently established its new South Asia Pacific headquarters in Singapore. The regional headquarters is responsible for operations in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia, New Zealand and the surrounding islands.

The German multinational, dual listed on the Frankfurt and New York stock exchanges, identified Singapore as ideal location for a regional focus, given its location, availability of quality manpower and world class infrastructure. All of Asia Pacific and in particular South East Asia has seen a steep increase in the incidence of End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD), with the main causes being the prevalence of diabetes, hypertension and glomerulonephritis.

FME Asia Pacific CEO and President, Mr Roberto Fuste said “the move has been a natural result of the business requirements and would allow FME to be closer to its customers and patients.

The company held an official opening at their new headquarters located in Centennial Tower on Monday 15th October 2012. The evening was hosted by Asia Pacific CEO and President, Mr Roberto Fuste and South Asia Pacific Vice President, Mr Mahesh Nair. Her Excellency Mrs Viets, Ambassador to Singapore of the Federal Republic of Germany and His Excellency Dr Gruber, Ambassador to Malaysia of the Federal Republic of Germany addressed guests by sharing their optimistic views on the impact the regional headquarters will have on local healthcare and the growing need for improved renal services across the Asian region. Other distinguished guests included leading nephrologists and health care professionals including senior representatives of charitable organisations that provide dialysis services. A formal ceremony including a plaque unveiling followed the speeches.
